remember the label 'hdtv' refers to the original capture not to the encoded avi file. there is hardly any
difference between a good non-hdtv capture and an hdtv capture when the end result is encoded down
to an avi at 624x352 and 12bpp..

i believe this is a mini-series, so there won't be a season 2. that was the
end of it.

i thought so, too. but they did get a second season. i'm so happy about it. i
really liked it. hope it won't be that long til it will be shown.

if you download both, burn both to dvd and play it on a tv and the difference is
a lot more noticeable than if you're just watching on your computer screen. pdtv
is still watchable but the difference is certainly visible - which is why, when
their is a choice, i prefer encodes of hdtv sources.

i would really appreciate a hr or 720p release of this last episode. bia makes
such releases for torchwood.

episode 5 can be sourced on mininova (or just about any other torrent search
site - like isohunt.com).

i think -river kinda slacks on the encode a little bit just to be the first
release out for the pdtv.
they also seem to encode by bitrate not file size consider that most of there
files have about the same video bitrate regardless of the length of the episode.
but the audio bitrate is the same so i'm guessing they must pack a few mb of null
data in it to make it 350mb.
if you take the pdtv by river and hdtv by who ever, both the the same file size,
almost same audio bitrate yet the video bitrate and bits/pixel is higher on the
hdtv rip.

i use a 22" ws lcd monitor (not when actually watching the whole thing) and i
definitely see a difference between the two when actually comparing stuff.
-river's encode is more pixelated and stuff. my own 2 pass xvid re-encode of a
720p xvid for this show with the same file size, same resolution looks better
then the pdtv rips.

although the pdtv doesn't look too bad when i play it through my computer to my
32" 4:3 ntsc tv by using the computers rca video output (best/easiest way to
watch 21min 175mb/42min 350mb xvid rips on tv in my opinion)

the bbc website states that the show starts october 6th...that's today!

also, tvtorrents.com also has dvdrips of the entire season, including #5
