video/audio sync goes haywire near the last 10 minutes and never gets back. it looks like the video
repeats a section while the audio doesn't.

you must be refereing to the other torrent...which was really out of sync.
this one is the proper and i've been told it's fine. no sync issue.

i finally downloaded and watched this episode, and...you are correct,
it is slightly oos in the last ten minutes, but less than 120ms,
which is not considered to be a technical flaw by the scene.

scene rules regarding oos (out of sync):
audio that is is 120ms or more out of sync or drifts more than 120ms between any two points
(e.g. needing -80 at one and +40 at another) is considered to be technically flawed.

120ms you say - think you need a new time-piece!
more like 20 seconds oos (out of sync) for the last 10 minutes - now that is considered a
"techinical flaw"!!!
i suggest you retime it.

if you really experienced a 20 second oos, then you have a problem.
there is nothing wrong with this file. more than ten thousand people downloaded this release and only
two of you have reported playback issues. either you downloaded the other file, the one that was
nuked, or you were experiencing system or video memory allocation issues, video player codec
issue, or had a corrupt download, etc. in my many years of experience, more than 90% of reported
playback issues are isolated end user issues and not a defect of the torrent's video fille. many of the
isolated one-off issues are resolved by simply rebooting, closing unnecesarry apps, using a different
video player, and in some cases redownloading the file.
