then someone at global switched off the simsub too early. the thank yous are
hardly worth complaining over losing. this rip ends with a guy blowing out a
cake and a quick fade. i havent watched it but she does say thank you good
night and then the guy blows out the candles on the cake. there's no credits
but otherwise seems good. i doubt there's anything missing.

yeah, stupid global, good to know it's in the rip at least.

i think this release is mixed with the first part before the first commercial
break from global and the rest from nbc. notice the extra watermark in the first
few minutes?

the nbc hd channel, only had him blowing out the candles - then, before he even
finished blowing them all out - the screen faded quickly. the nbc feed, was too,
dropped early.

occasionally, the show's ending will take up the net id time, and some stations
will simply cut off at that point, whether the feed has finished or not. the
more recent (from the mid-'80s onward) use of terminal "network ids" (typically,
promos for nbc shows) at the end of snl broadcasts allows for a "safety zone" of
sorts for the director, should the show run long.

weird i have the same "no video" problem?

no other video in the past.. 2 years has come up with black video but sound
(ie - missing codec or whatever)

i use media player classic, i updated the xvid codec, then the ffdshow filter,
and nothing.

however - if i play it in windows media player? works fine.

why is that?

it's 2hd

i have the same no video problem. everything else on my computer works. what the
fudge is going on?

edit: the avi is funny for some reason. gspot says:

file length correct
divx style "packed bitstream" avi
avi v1.0
interleave: 1 vid frame (33 ms), preload=48
audio frames: aligned on interleaves

i redid it in nandub (direct stream copy for both) and got this:

file length correct
divx style "packed bitstream" avi
opendml (avi v2.0)
interleave: 1 vid frame (33 ms), preload=480
audio frames: aligned on interleaves

this one works. virtualdub went out of sync.

the guy blowing out the candles at the end is don pardo, a legend in tv land,
who has been the announcer on snl since it's inception. he's 90, still has his
wits, voice, and still working. kudos to him.

also, the file played back fine for me on xbox media center.

reinstalled the avi 2.0 codec. still no video. how do i fix this?
