thanks eztv!

i watched a couple of episodes of this season. not bad but i swear the tobacco
and alcohol pr machine is behind this show and paying off the director and
script writers to show as many boozers and smokers then can in every show.

it's distracting from the story line and it even makes the show unwatchable at
points. they show cigarette smoking every which way possible and, of course, no
one even complains about it because we're supposed to think that people in the
early 80s loved to inhale disgusting cigarette second hand smoke and work all
day inside a permanent cloud of it.

not to mention that the main characters are constantly wasted drunk and show up
the next morning at work all fresh and snappy and ready to solve the next crime.

it's a pity to see so much effort go to waste every week mainly to brain wash
the viewers to smoke and drink until they puke.

you probably won't like 'mad men' either, then.

thanks!

i haven't watched it. i think i watched a couple of minutes of it from the first
episode and i thought it was too pretentious and fake. the info on eztv's
listing says it's about an ad agency selling from cigarettes to political
candidates and has all of them with an alcoholic drink in their hands (surprise!).

tobacco and alcohol lobby money is spent at a rate of hundreds of millions of
dollars annually so it has to go somewhere and it's not ads in magazines alone.
i don't know about mad men but most tv productions and hollywood movie
productions are corrupted with that money and everyone, from the most unknown
director to spielberg and eastwood, are wh*ring themselves so they can show
their characters smoke and drink as much as possible because of the cash they
get under the table.

well, i hate to say this, but in the uk in the early 80's a lot of us did smoke
at work, and, up until last year, it was the norm to smoke in factories and
workshops. as for alcohol, i worked for a little twat, who every saturday
morning at about 9 o'clock would vomit for about 10 minutes. we all drank in
the 80's and went to work with no problems, sounds to me that our friend here is
a lightweight!!!

(don't watch "mad men" - seriously heavy smoking in that show. good drama
despite that gripe).
