troubled baywatch star david hasselhoff has been axed from america's got talent for boozing. tv chiefs dumped the actor, who had been a judge on the reality show for four series, amid claims his drinking had made his position untenable. hasselhoff, 57, has not been fired - but his contract is not being renewed. boozing ... hoff on videolast night friends of the show's executive producer simon cowell stressed he had had no involvement in the decision. they insisted the x factor boss was still good pals with the hoff, who is expected to be replaced by us deal or no deal host howie mandel, 54. the panel also includes piers morgan and sharon osbourne. ex-knight rider star hasselhoff said: "i am proud i was part of making america's got talent the number one rated show for the past four summers. "it's been a rewarding experience and now i'm thrilled to be able to follow my dream to do my own tv show, which will be announced very shortly. "i want to thank my friend simon cowell for four great years."
