i'm with the majority here. the mp4 files play in some places but not in others, whereas the avi's play absolutely everywhere which is why they are so good. plus while 40 min drama's do lose about 150mb during the process, there seems to be no reason to do it with 20 min comedies as they are roughly the same size. i think ettv will be a second stop for me every day now! |

whilst h264 seems to be the "new kid on the block" xvid works fine for most of us and i agree with the old addage ..if it ain't broke dont fix it!..xvid and avi should still be the format of choice :-) |

i guess the question is how many top sites the eztv uploaders have access to and the rules of these top sites regarding carrying the xvids when the x264 is pre'd first and therefore a later xvid will be considered a dupe. purely speculation as i've been out of the 'game' for years now. |

i was amazed by the quality, i even thought i had accidentally picked up the 720 file and was worried about the hdd getting full quicker and when i checked the size, it was even smaller! wow! i am happy with the new format, keep it up, please! btw: i use a wd hd tv player, hook the hdd via usb and connect the player to my 37" lcd tv via hdmi. |

i checked out the format avi = 624 x 352 bit rate 153 sound mp4 = 720 x404 bit rate 123 sound mp4 half +- space great quality sound was not up down like it |

thank you for posting this. like others have said: mp4s won't play everywhere; certainly not on most dvd players. man was i pissed when i brought this to my friend's place to watch last night and wasn't able to. really hope this doesn't become a regular thing. love eztv and appreciate the great job they do, but i have to add my voice to the "please don't switch format" chorus. if lol is releasing mp4s, then eztv should just drop them. simple as that. |
