use vlc player and mkv is just a container system. meaning you can put anything in it like a video and a bunch of subs. kinda like avi. |

i recommend using vlc player www.videolan.org/vlc simple, powerful, fast, and free. completely free, zero spyware, ads or user tracking. plays files, discs (dvd, cd, vcd, blu-ray), webcams and streams. plays most codecs with no additional codec packs: mpeg-2, h.264, divx, mpeg-4, webm, wmv, flv... plays most file types: avi, asf, mp4, mkv, mpeg, ogg, real, wav, aac, aa3, flac, flv, mxf, and more. works on most platforms: windows, linux, mac os x, unix, and more. |

nope. both vlc and gom are stable, quality, trusted apps. both have been around for about ten years, millions of downloads and users. never a report of adware, spyware, or virus. |

i was talking more about the text in quotes sounding suspicious, and i was saying it as a joke. guess i should have gone with the "he must work for them or something" joke instead. |
