wow

what a bunch of closet cases. i hope you all choke on your venomous heterosexist bile.
the discomfort you feel with your own repressed sexuality is no reason to spew all over someone else's
work. how pathetic, insecure, bigoted, and weak-minded do you have to be before you can't even see
past the characters' sexual orientation (which is /bi/sexual, by the way (~_^)d ) to critique the actual
story line.

evolve.

i don't really care if your gay or not. just don't ruin a show by making 'a
statement'. i hope this show gets better. it started strong and then....got a
bit silly.

inferring that dr.who is gay however is just plain wrong. not once in watching
all the shows and reading the books did i find reference to him wanting to shove
something up his arse.

all that really matters is that the d/l quality is good.

that's nice, smarteyeball, but unfortunately it is just more double standard dribble.

any time someone is bi/homo, it is seen by some as "making a statement". in contrast, if you have a
male that is on the constant prowl for some pussy, it is seen simply as character development. "he's into
the ladies".

the only i time i recall jack's sexuality ever being discussed was by the females (in a very sort scene)
when they were trying to decipher if he was gay or not. it was a very natural development (we do that).
jack is just a very lascivious sexual being, who is turned on by any attractive humans (or other species,
apparently) regardless of distinctions such as sex.

he isn't marching in intergalactic pride parades or proclaiming "i am bi!"
it's just (a part of) who he is.

i love this show, and for the most part russel writes great stories. i don't
care if a person is gay, but it is getting a bit old how much he is using this
show to drive some sort of gay pride message.

i haven't watched it yet, but i am very much looking forward to it. i am a bit
bummed to hear about gay overtones. and yes i am a double standard hypocritical
ass, if it is two hot chicks i jump for joy. but at least i admit it

does this cap have a bbc watermark on it? there were "fatman" caps from last
season that were done from a rebroadcast on a different bbc channel a few days
after the first run that had no watermarks. i can wait for those caps if this
version has a watermark. thanks.

"i don't care if a person is gay, but it is getting a bit old how much he is using this
show to drive some sort of gay pride message. "

valid point you got there. i totally agree. it's like, when i was watching dexter and he kept hooking up
with females. i was thinking, "all the murder in this show rocks, but what's with the hetero pride
message?!? okay, we get it. he's attracted to the opposite sex. no need to push the straight agenda."

directions: apply copious amounts of sarcasm. read. absorb. repeat as necessary.
[#75167] Written by: subversa [17/01/2008, 13:06]

i think what i find most amusing, about those who are bothered by the "gay overtones", is the fact that
there is not one complaint regarding the interspecies lust. :d

oh, the hilariousity...
[#75172] Written by: Timmetie [17/01/2008, 14:35]
actually dr who is bi at least, he was hitting on shakespeare right?

and i don't really mind the overtones, some series go way too far into the
heterosexual relationships, at least here it's usually somewhat unexpected.

yeah, us not liking the gay aspects of the show must be because we're closet
homophobes.

guess what dumbasses, i'm bisexual.

i just don't like the utter faggotry that davies is pulling with the whole dr.
who legacy (and the spinoff). to even *try* to claim that it isn't him
desperately trying to shove some gay pride message into mainstream television is
utter nonsense.

further, while i may be bisexual, the simple fact is, the majority of the world
is heterosexual. i'm positive that the bulk of them don't have any issues with
homosexuality, but when someone like davies tries to thrust his gay message upon
them, all he's doing is alienating the majority of viewers who have a special
place in their hearts for a nostalgic part of their youth. i'm also pretty sure
they're not too keen on their children being exposed to what amounts to a
minority view on human sexuality.

it's irrelevant whether something is politically correct, right, or open minded.
he's shitting on dr. who, that's all that matters. to even suggest the doctor
is homosexual is like remaking superman to be gay. it's fucking retarded.

if i want to watch homosexual content, there are plenty of shows that foster it
(and infinitely better written at that), in fact, even with my own sexuality, i
have to say there's actually too much of it on tv. at the least it's
disproportionate to the viewership. that's not to say there shouldn't be gay
content on television. i'm just saying that by gaying up dr. who and torchwood,
it just smacks of davies flaunting his faggotry like it's some point of pride
for him to try to get viewers to bitch to the bbc about it.

it's also one thing to note that sexuality in the future is more open to
homosexuality (which is a complete fucking crock of fantasy shite), it's another
to have every other episode devoted to flamboyant displays of faggotry.

he's wrecking the shows with it. it also doesn't help that his writing sucks
balls in general, over and above the gay silliness.

wow, you sure seem to hate yourself. i'm not saying you do, but that's exactly
how you come off in about everything you just posted. words like "faggotry" etc
doesn't give you any credibility. oh, and i've seen no "flamboyant" display in
either doctor who or torchwood. and there's been like one or two man-on-man
kisses in doctor who, that's all. what a ~tradgedy~! torchwood is created by
davies, so if you don't like the concept, don't watch it. no one is forcing you
to watch it, right?

bottomline; don't like it? don't watch it. real simple.

erm... what makes you think your sexual orientation is in any way relevant to this discussion (other
than you being bi and excreting verbal diarrhea like "f*ggot" is no less sad and pathetic than black
people using "n*gger" or females using "b*tch") or that it makes your opinion any more valid?
there are homos against equal rights. many slaves refused to leave the plantation, after they were
freed. many women fought against women earning the right to vote, work outside of the home, etc.
it's called social conditioning.

all you displayed in your post was a lack of historical knowledge, rational perspective, and self-
esteem.
again, showing characters being intimate or having desire for the same sex doesn't make any
statement or push any message. who cares if the majority of the population is strictly hetero (or claim
to be)? these particular characters are not (like millions of people). what's your point? that we should
only have characters on tv shows that represent the majority in any given attribute or characteristic?

good you bring up the extreme likelihood of sexual openness and acceptance in the future, because
one would have to be pretty daft to believe it would be otherwise. exposure to other cultures and ways
of being absolutely influences and changes people's attitudes. and we are talking about people who
have been exposed to other planetary species and a man who has lived for centuries and traveled
space and time - plenty of time for introspection and personal evolution.

our current sexual perspectives were largely influenced by superstitious (read: religious) oppression.
homo/bisexuality was prevalent in past civilizations where it was not only tolerated but accepted and
even encouraged.

lastly, your assumption that there is a plethora of shows with homosexual content on tv is amusing to
me.
please cite the multitude of examples that display it in a normal fashion, rather than something to
make fun of. (hint: that, obviously, discounts will & grace (~_^))

subversa, thank you!

but i hope this discussion won't come up in future torchwood episode
torrents(yeah right). the point of the comment-system is really just to say
"thanks" and comment on the quality etc. no one really gives a crap if someone
else thinks "it's to gay" and their personal beliefs.
