freshane: this seems to be avi (thats the container format, like mkv)
with mpeg4 video and mp3 audio in it.
no need to put it in another avi container or to convert it.
maybe your dvd-player doesnt support mpeg4?
just burn a data cd or dvd and try it out.

after watching the episode, i think that "out of sync" is happening on purpose.
it only seems to happen in that hazy scene and ends immediately after that
scene is over.
i can't really say anymore without spoiling, but keep what i said in mind when
you watch it and i think you'll agree.

@oisint and others. may be it was problem with codecs or luck of comp speed.
but such an ussmption .... sorry, it' s completly stupid. buy a new comp
dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think you're right.

there are no commercial breaks right before (or after) that scene, that could
explain an out-of-sync moment.

it's part of this particular scene.

i'll try it out.. hopefully my divx dvd player will recognize it. if i don't
see much improvement in quality i'll stick with the 350mb versions. i have no
problem with those files just wanted to see how these higher quality versions
would look on my 46". thanks

i just got a new laptop and a new tv which are both hdtv. so wht is the
difference between this copy of bsg and the other one that has a smaller file
size?

yah guess it doesn't work with my divx dvd player, ah well just have to stick
with the 350mb files. i'm not complaining thanks eztv for always bring us the

i use mplayer for everything, works flawlessly for 720p or even 1080i (on my imac) and has single-key
keyboard shortcuts for everything, which is damn nice. it opens quickly, plays everything without any
hiccups, and can even open incomplete downloads out of the box.

(the only catch is that in os x, right now you have to either use mplayerosx - which is kinda
uncomfortable - or launch mplayer from the terminal. i'm actually working on a wrapper, so you can use it
like a regular app.)

if you have a ps3 or a 360 you can use a program called gotsent to put the 720p
files into a stereo mp4 that those systems can play back.

since i just downloaded this ep at 13mb/s, i highly doubt that.
*maybe* 1/3 of the part of the swarm you are connected to, which is usually a
fraction of the total swarm.

nb yes, byte, not bit

anyone know how i can convert these to avi so i can burn them to
dvd and watch
them on my divx dvd player?? i didn't realize they were .mkv files. thanks

check out dvd flick. it's open source and works nicely. i'd recommend the beta
as the current stable version seems to push the audio to the right channel for
these bsg mkv caps.

i'd also like to know how to view mkv files on a dvd player. the avis obviously
work alright.

you cannot a dvd player cannot handle 720p resolution it was not built for that.
the only way to view them is on or through a pc connected to a hdtv. or a media
box or other box that can handle .mkv files.

let me clarify - using dvd flick, you can convert the mkv file to dvd video and
then use that. the program is super-easy to use and doesn't take very long to
convert the file.

i know, i was talking about byte as well. plus i'm over in england and sapping
off imperial colleges internet; so as not to arouse suspicion (because the site
has a 4gb/s symmetric internet connection) i limited to 100 connections - and
over wireless lan. i think i did pretty good.
