oooh ooh!! it's terra nova v2. twist in the story line, but cast from the same mould. throw in copious amounts of cheesy effects, loads of rubber costumes, and actually not care, and you have a winner! it kept me going "...really?" but i still want to watch more. oo well it was good for a giggle  |

ha ha... was coming here to say the same thing. ignoring the fact that some characters are aliens... there are a lot of similarities to terra nova. make a newcomer sheriff - check bartender - check rookie cop/military guy has the hots for sheriff's daughter - check giant wall keeping the baddies out - check mysterious plot to change the world - check ... thankfully no whiny 8yr old this time. :d |

i think they biggest difference from terra nova is lack of misleading marketing. or at least to me, i don't watch anything on tv so i don't know what the commercials are like. but they advertised at pax last year, and it has a companion mmorpg. plus airing on siffy alongside warehouse 13, they aren't trying to call it "serious scifi". don't know if the [monster] aliens are suppose to be that big of thing, but it felt like they were trying to go for bit of farscape vibe(although not too successfully). terra nova was garbage, in large part because they marketed as a dino show, and gave a parsley's share of em. i don't expect much from this, but i do watch warehouse 13, so this will be some cheesy scifi to go along with it. i did like how they threw you in with just enough info on the war/contact, and only casual and slow exposition for the aliens. in the end, while it is similar to tn, it just came off a lot better, imo. |

horrible, if this survives a season, i'll eat my shorts. there is nothing good about this show. hopeless aliens, generally terrible acting allover the board. no potensial, and no future. its just sad to see people getting fed more and more mindnumbing crap, and they eat it all up with a smile and a thankyou..... .... just sad if you think this is better than terra n, well... i just got a little sader. there may be no hope for man afterall

thought it was pretty good myself wasn't the best show ever but it was watchable. some of the cgi and acting was pretty bad but i'm interested to see where it's going. no matter how good a show is there always will be haters though |

a bit cheesier than it ought to be, but actually not as bad as i thought it would be. the cheeky one-liners just kills all seriousness, along with some questionable acting from a good half of the cast. throw in some half arsed cgi and rubber suits and it doesn't bode that well. all in all decent, but having a hard time seeing it last longer than the season out, which will unfortunately kill the only half-decent game as well :/ might've bought this 10+ years ago, but it doesn't really hold up in 2013 :/ |

haha ;p it'll be rough, but they can't even afford to can it straight off the bat with the amount of money they've invested in it. the game really needs to pick up sales as well, and being as cwappy as it is, that's going to be rough too, unfortunately. but at least they got decent viewer ratings for this first ep. going to be interesting to see how that holds up after everyone has seen and judged it for themselves. personally think it'll start declining rather fast from the fourth episode and forward :/ |

i didn't like terra nova (dinosaurs bore me), but i quite enjoyed this. the cgi wasn't the greatest but passable. it just has that good 'ole western feel to it. yeah, it is the same story that has been told again and again, but it has slightly different clothes. meh, i don't mind that sometimes, putting a slightly different spin on an old story. it is only a slight spin. will it last? who knows? there are a lot of shows like these that have fallen by the way side after pretty good starts. with syfy's track record of throwing money at something and it not instantly working, it most likely won't survive. does it deserve to last? maybe? i like to get my dose of sci-fi, there are a few good shows around that i like at the moment (falling skies, dr who, continuum, warehouse 13, etc) but i would mind adding something else to the list  however, i am not pinning my hopes on it. it might scrape through a season but...i will keep watching until i get bored or it is cancelled. |
