nobody have anything to say about global dimming?

there is an almost perfect balance happening between global warming and global
dimming. reducing greenhouse gases without also reducing particle polution in
the atmosphere in the right balance would send us into the next ice age.

but global dimming isn't in the headlines, so no need to worry bout that yet,
eh? lol, almost everything we know, we know because it makes people money to
have us know. shouldn't be too long before someone figures how to make lots of
money through global dimming, then you will know about that too.

:)

then they should attack other countries too

\"quote deznaj:actually no, not that much money has been put into this.
especially not by the
usa. if money is your most important issue you are a. stupid, and b.
shortsighted. what about other \'scams\' like the war in iraq, which is costing
billions a day? and what is that giving us except maybe a big more oil for our
suv\'s?

do you know what fluctuation means? it means movement around a baseline. it
gets a bit warmer, it gets a bit colder, but there is an average baseline. the
last century it has just gotten warmer, no fluctuation whatsowever. things are
heating up at a rate that will give trouble for some people in some countries
at some point in the future. but why the hell would an american citizen worry
about that? as long as he/she can keep up her decadent lifestyle and die of
obesity or some sort of \'deluxe\' cancer while using up as many recources as
possible.

maybe this is not about global warming at all, maybe it is about common sense.
the sense that something has to change, that we as a species can better
ourselves. but some people never will, they won\'t even see it.

stupid show with random facts by the way...end quote\"
---
i\'m with you \'deznaj\' people still continue to be blind to what is really going
on in \'our\' world! we are totally to blame for what is happening, wars, poverty,
global warming, whatever it is, it\'s our fault!! no point saying it just
is...um...coz...and burying our heads in the sand hoping it will go away,
because it won\'t!!!! grow up!

thank god we haven\'t met any alien cultures as yet, because we\'re just as likely
as a race to just blame them...for everything!!

my 2 cent here. i'm neither here or there.
but assuming that human beings are not having an effect on the ecosystem......
that being said.
if there were no humans on earth, then there are natural cycles in the
mean-temperature, resulting is ice-ages and warm-periodes. fact.
however predicting the effects of carbondioxid (+ other man made emissions), on
earths climate, when it's impossible to assign quantitive value to set
quantities effect. you cannot isolate the effect of humans. you have an inherent
unstabil and fluctuating system.
that being said.
it's not in mans best interest to keep pumping greenhouse gases into the
atmosphere, if we are not sure what the effect is gonna be!!!!!!
because that's just plain stupid.
ignorance is not bliss

there is an ol' saying: look before you jump.
fair enough when we started pumping out greenhouse gases, we were ignorant, and
did not know we were about to jump. however now we know, so why not wait, and
have a look??????

that just made think of something else that continues to occurr every single
day, even though we know what it can do...smoking! ever wonder why it's not been
banned? even though it's a fact that it can cause cancer and other just as bad
effects? it has to do with money, the big buck! if something continues to
provide people, governments with a revenue then they will continue to ignore the
fact that it does harm...blindly ignore it...otherwise cigarette would have been
taken off the shelves a long time ago...(it makes you wonder doesn't it, there
are certain standards that medication must adhere to before it is sold to the
public, this is something that is suppose to make you better, if it doesn't meet
those standards they are banned from being used...) cigarettes = banned? nope!
governments reduce co2 level by banning oil/gas run cars - nope, why? because of
the money that is produced from it. there are a number of energy efficient cars
being used in a number of country's at the moment smart cars/green cars/solar
type cars, etc...but are they mass produced at a reasonable rate? are they
advertised in opposition to say a holden or ford sedan? nope...all comes done to
who can make money off you! whether you live or die, doesn't make as long as
you've made someone that extra buck...same with global warming that's why
everyone needs to get on board with it...or big company's governments are going
to continue to find ways to deny it's existence.

quote: totally different subject, i know, but i just wanted to point out that
there are
some schools of thought that believe aliens are already amoung us. it is
somewhat arrogant to think that all aliens have to be in humanoid form. end quote.

i don't believe i said they were in human form did i? and it is off the subject.

i researched it before i even thought about doing it. i'm
not one for pressure (peer, political, otherwise). i smoke for many reasons, one
being that it's kind of a self medication that i can get without going to some
stupid jackass doctor and having to spend ridiculous amounts of money.

seriously, you read up about what smoking does to you before you started to
smoke? and you started???
your not afraid such an statement would make you look kinda stupid?

do you want to end the "panic" over the alleged global warming situation? it's
simple--just put an end to all government funding of global warming studies.

when these scare-mongering gw scientists realize that the golden goose is dead
and that they're gonna have to get a real job, global warming will fade into
history--just like the saccarin, chlorophyll, swine flu, et.al, panics which
preceded the present one.

anyone remember the global cooling scare in the 70's?
this also kinda nullifies the claim that the temperature has been continually
rising the last 100 years or so.

no no you've got it all wrong - its people causing global warming. when the
earth had natural tar pits on the surface that was just the dinosaurs causing
their global warming.

we should all stop eating meat driving cars and letting volcanos erupt.

heres an idea - learn 2 breath c02 or stfu!

thought this was going to be a documentary about how individuals effect on
global warming is minute compared to the emissions of us utility plants and
that the majority of these emissions (not only co2, but most pullutants) come
from a handful of us utility companies.

whether co2 emissions affect global warming or not, they do destroy the ozone
layer and it is hard to argue that we do not need the ozone layer.

i think the bush administration policies that reversed or reduced penalties to
large energy plants for emission of pollutants have been the most detrimental
to our environment, ozone and global warming. in 2003, the bush
admininstration made regulatory changes to the clean air act's "new source
review" (nsr) program removing requirements on old coal-fired power plants to
install pollution controls. as a result of these changes, companies who were
facing lawsuits and huge fines now have 20 years to make their changes despite
severe health risks associated with current emissions. rather than worring
about what products we use as individuals that contribute to co2 emissions, we
should be using our time holding our government responsible for the policies
changes that have really screwed us when it comes to global warming, co2
emissions, and pollutants in general.
